Date:  January 14, 2010 

Time:  10:30-12:00 

Location:  Enviroroom 

Target Age:  1st through 5th grade

Program:  Liquid Explorations 

Description:  Students will be introduced to the properties of liquids while conducting experiments involving classification and observation.  Learn and discuss oil slicks and other environmental issues.

Date:  March 11, 2010 

Time:  10:30-12:00 

Location:  Enviroroom 

Target Age:  Kindergarten-3rd 

Program:  Frog Math:  Predict, Ponder, Play    

Description:  In an artful interweaving of math and literature, the students will be introduced to the concepts of sorting, classifying, and graphing while developing strategic-thinking skills.

Date:  April 8, 2010 

Time:  10:30-12:00            

Location:  The Environmental Education Center (located in Hammond across from Wolf Lake)     

Target Age:  ALL AGES    

Program:   WELCOME to the EEC!

Description:  This program is for students and families who have not visited the EEC or would like to learn more about our facility.  Take a tour of the EEC, walk on the nature trail (weather permitting) and make crafts from reusable garbage.  Come check out Indiana’s first indoor trout stream and slide through the Tree of Life!

Date:  May 13, 2010

Time:  10:30-12:00

Location:  The Enviroroom

Target Age:  ALL AGES

Program:  The Enviroscape          

Description:  Students will gain an understanding of watersheds, run off and point/non-point source pollution.  Using a 3x3-floor model, students create a “real life” city with sources of pollution demonstrated and discussed.

Date:  June 3, 2010 

Time:  10:30-12:00

Location:  The Enviroroom

Target Age:  ALL AGES

Program:  Bubble-Ology! 

Description:  Students conduct imaginative experiments with soap bubbles that introduce concepts of solid science, technology and math content.
