Our 2025 Annual Report Is Here!
2025 was a very busy and productive year for our team here at the Lake County Solid Waste Management District, and we are very proud of everything our community helped us accomplish. From keeping hazardous waste out of local landfills to getting kids excited about composting and recycling, every program we run exists because Lake County residents like you show up and make it happen.
Inside the report, you’ll get a look at all of the ways we’ve been working to make Lake County a cleaner place to live — things like our Household Hazardous Waste collection events, electronics and tire drop-off programs, leaf collection and composting, and the recycling grants we provide directly back to municipalities across the county.
You’ll also see some highlights from our education programs, which are among the most comprehensive environmental education offerings in the state of Indiana. Whether we’re welcoming school groups to our Environmental Education Center in Merrillville, taking the Enviromobile directly into classrooms, or running summer programs at local parks, there’s nothing quite like seeing the next generation get genuinely excited about sustainability.
