No. Waste Management is a separate, private company which is not affiliated with the Lake County Solid Waste Management District, which is a governmental entity. Waste Management’s telephone number is (800) 796-9696.

No. The District at this time provides specific locations throughout the county for citizens to bring various recyclable items. Those locations and specific items can be found on the District’s website under the “I Want To Find a Recycling Location” or the “District Services” drop down icon on the District website’s home page.

No. At this time, the District’s programs are currently dedicated to serving the individual citizen’s needs. Businesses will need to contact private companies which provide those services.

No. Depending on the material, some companies do pay for receipt of material. The private companies which provide those services can be found on the District’s website under the “District Services, Miscellaneous Materials” drop down menu.

Those education programs and registration procedures and forms can be found on the District’s website under the “Education” drop down menu. 

You can take unwanted or expired medications to local police departments.

You will want to check with your specific hauler because each is different.   However, here are some general guidelines.

At this time, there are no recycling drop off centers.  We recommend working with your trash hauler for recycling pick up.

Auto Zone and O’Reilly Auto Parts stores will take your car batteries for free.  O’Reilly’s website states that they will give you a $10 O’Reilly’s gift card for any unbroken automotive battery.  Both of these locations will also take old motor oil.

Old paint can be dried out with non-clumping kitty litter.  Once it is completely hardened, leave the lid off and you can put it in the trash. 

For tank recycling, you can simply write recycle across the label of the tank and leave it outside the cage of a bigger Blue Rhino retailer. The tanks do need to be of the 20lb variety and must be able to fit in our cages to be accepted. Blue Rhino will collect the tank and refurbish it if possible. If the tank does not meet our safety and quality standards, we will just recycle the tank. Tanks do not need to be Blue Rhino brand.  If you need assistance finding a dealer in your area, this information is available on www.bluerhino.com. If you require further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-258-7466, Monday-Friday 8am-6pm EST and Saturday 9am-6pm EST.   Small, household size fire extinguishers may be brought to the Household Hazard Waste Collections.
